Privacy policy for Project Scribe.
Project Scribe is designed as a local-first workspace. It does not require an account and the audited package does not include a developer-operated cloud sync backend. User-selected documents and images are handled locally. Advertising and purchase paths are disabled by default in this updated package to avoid shipping test ads or placeholder purchase/ad configuration.
Current updated package: local-first workspace, user-selected file/image import, no developer cloud backend identified, ads and purchases disabled by default.
Effective date: June 15, 2026. This policy applies to the current iPhone and iPad package associated with this branch. Update this page before submission whenever permissions, SDKs, data collection, ads, purchases, accounts, sync, or third-party services change.
1. Data the app handles, how it is collected, and how it is used
| Data | How it is collected | How it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Workspace content | Created, imported, or edited by the user inside the app. | Displaying, editing, saving, restoring, searching, validating, and organizing notes, documents, code notes, maps, and whiteboards. |
| User-selected files | Chosen by the user through Apple document pickers or image pickers. | Opening, previewing, converting, or embedding selected files in the local workspace. |
| Images selected through PHPicker or Files | Provided only when the user selects a specific image/file. | Embedding or displaying the selected image in supported local documents. |
| Preferences and entitlement cache | Stored locally using Apple system storage. | Remembering settings and feature states. The Remove Ads purchase path is disabled by default in this updated package. |
| Local diagnostics | Generated on device from the text or code the user is editing. | Showing validation results or warnings in the app. Diagnostics are not sent to a developer backend by the audited package. |
| Support email content | Collected only when the user chooses to contact support. | Responding to support, privacy, accessibility, or document-import questions. |
2. Third-party services and sharing
The app shares data with third parties only for the app functions described below or when you choose to contact support. Third-party services used by the app must provide protection for user data consistent with this policy, the App Store Review Guidelines, and applicable law.
- Apple system frameworks: SwiftUI, UIKit, PDFKit, CoreGraphics, UniformTypeIdentifiers, StoreKit code paths, document pickers, and PHPicker are used through Apple platform controls.
- Google advertising SDK code path: The updated package keeps advertising dormant by default. Google ad packages are not linked into the updated Xcode project, and no ad requests are made unless a future reviewed build intentionally enables advertising with production identifiers and updated disclosures.
- Email provider and website host: If you contact support or visit this website, ordinary email/server data may be processed to provide those services.
3. Tracking, advertising, and consent
The updated package disables advertising and purchase surfaces by default and declares no tracking. If Project Scribe later ships with ads or a Remove Ads purchase, the app, App Store Connect privacy labels, UMP/ATT flow, app-ads.txt, StoreKit product setup, and this branch must be updated before submission.
4. Retention, deletion, and revoking consent
Local app data remains on the device until you change it, clear it, or remove the app, subject to normal iOS backup, restore, and operating-system behavior. Support emails may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond, troubleshoot, maintain service records, and comply with legal obligations.
- Delete workspace items: Use in-app controls to remove notes, documents, maps, whiteboards, and imported files where deletion controls are available.
- Control file access: Only files you select through Apple pickers are imported. You can avoid importing files and still use note features.
- Control image access: PHPicker lets you choose specific images without granting broad Photo Library access. Remove imported images or delete local documents to remove copies.
- Remove local app data: Delete the app to remove app-local data managed by iOS, subject to normal system and backup behavior.
- Ads and purchases: No ad requests or purchase offers are enabled by default in this updated package. Future monetization requires a new reviewed release and updated disclosures.
- Request support or deletion help: Email [email protected] for privacy questions or support-record deletion requests.
5. Children and age suitability
Project Scribe is a productivity/document workspace. It does not include public chat, public social feeds, real-money gaming, gambling, location tracking, or a developer account system. Users may import their own documents and images, so App Store age-rating answers should reflect user-generated/local user content capabilities for the exact submitted binary.
6. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the app’s privacy practices change. The effective date at the top of the branch should be updated whenever material changes are made.
