Content rights and notices for Great Chess
Ownership, attribution, licensing, and third-party-content boundaries for the reviewed Great Chess 1.0 (1) release.
App Store Connect declaration
Great Chess contains third-party content. The Content Rights response in App Store Connect should therefore be “Yes” and should be certified only while the submitted binary retains the applicable license, attribution, source, and modification notices described below.
Rights summary
- The chess rules engine, computer-opponent implementation, interface, branding, procedurally generated 3D board and pieces, board texture, and synthesized sound effects are presented as original developer-controlled content.
- Twelve optional 2D piece images are rasterized and resized derivatives of the Cburnett chess set by Colin M. L. Burnett, obtained from the corresponding Wikimedia Commons file pages.
- The reviewed release identifies the author and source, selects the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license for those twelve derivatives, links the license, identifies the rasterization and resizing changes, disclaims endorsement, and includes exact source mapping and SHA-256 records.
- The selected license applies to those artwork derivatives, not to unrelated original Great Chess code or content. Complete notices are included in the app distribution and source package.
No hosted user content
Great Chess does not host, publish, or redistribute user-generated content. Saved games, settings, lesson progress, and statistics are local app records and are not uploaded to a public content service.
