1. Information kept on the device
- Game preferences, appearance settings, tutorial progress, statistics, and local achievements.
- Saved games, move history, board state, and resume/recovery information.
- Local computer-opponent configuration and lesson progress.
2. Information that may be processed outside the app
- The audited app does not include advertising, analytics, account, telemetry, or general-purpose networking SDKs.
- External links in the About/legal interface open only when the user selects them, such as privacy, support, and artwork-license references.
- Support email and ordinary website hosting logs are handled by the relevant providers only when those services are used.
3. Advertising and consent
No advertising SDK, ad request, consent SDK, or ad-supported mode is included in the audited premium release.
4. Permissions and protected resources
- The audited app target does not declare camera, microphone, speech, location, Contacts, Photos, Calendar, motion, Bluetooth, Health, or local-network usage descriptions.
5. Retention and deletion
App-local records remain until the user deletes them with an available app control, resets the applicable feature, or removes the app, subject to normal device backups and exported copies. Service providers retain data under their own policies and legal obligations. The developer cannot directly erase provider-controlled records that it does not possess; users should use the provider, device, and in-app privacy controls described here.
6. Your choices
- Delete individual saved games, reset supported statistics/settings, or remove the app to delete app-local data, subject to normal iOS backup behavior.
- Choose local player/computer modes and 2D or 3D presentation without creating an account.
- Open external legal or support links only when desired.
7. What the reviewed release does not do
- No Great Chess account, login, advertising, analytics, or developer cloud is required.
- No public profiles, chat, matchmaking, real-money wagering, or loot boxes are included.
- Saved games and statistics are not uploaded to the developer.
- No protected hardware permission is requested by the audited app target.
8. Children and age suitability
The app is not designed to collect personal information from children through an account or developer backend. Parents and guardians should supervise device permissions, purchases, and service-provider consent as appropriate. See the age-suitability page.
9. Security
The app relies on iOS sandboxing, Apple permission controls, and ordinary platform protections. No software or storage method can guarantee absolute security. Keep iOS current, protect the device passcode, and avoid including sensitive information in support email unless it is necessary.
10. International and provider processing
Apple, Google, email, hosting, and other selected service providers may process data in jurisdictions where they operate. Their own privacy notices govern their processing. The app's first-party local content is not thereby converted into developer-hosted cloud content.
11. Policy changes
A materially changed app or SDK configuration requires this policy and applicable App Store privacy answers to be reviewed before release. The revision date below identifies this published version.
